In May of 2006, we were all gathered at the family home to celebrate after a wedding. Sitting and chatting, talk soon turned to the plant closings which were affecting many of the family members. The family had work in the textile factories for four generations and now their jobs were being outsourced overseas.
Meanwhile, little Sofi in her white dress was playing in the mud. Sally commented on the nice color of Carolina mud (now all over Sofi), and an idea popped into her head: "Why not dye shirts with Carolina mud, use our expertise in the textile industry and go into business together?"
A bucket, a t-shirt and a handful of mud later...and Mud Duds™ was born.
